Forcing attacks

Attacks are a good weapon to force your opponent into making a specific move. For instance, by threatening to take an enemy piece that is stronger than your attacking piece, the opponent is forced to react.

The same applies for unprotected enemy pieces. When you attack those, they’ll usually need to move them away to another square.
